Carola Esposito Corcione - Assistant Professor


Carola Esposito Corcione Carola Esposito Corcione received her Master degree in Chemical Engineering at University Federico II of Naples in October 2000. From March 2001, she continued her studies for the PhD degree in Material's Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Salento (former University of Lecce) at the Department of Innovation Engineering, working on kinetics of cationic photopolymerization of resins for stereolithography process within the group of Prof. A. Maffezzoli. She received her Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Technology in May 2004, defending her thesis on "Development and kinetic characterization of new materials for stereolithography process". From January 2005 she is Assistant Professor at University of Salento.

Academic background
She is presently involved in the field of Materials Science and Technology, teaching courses on Transport Phenomena in Materials, Transport Phenomena and Durability of Materials for Restoration and Rehabilitation Applications. She has been the tutor of several Master degree theses. She is referee for the international: Journal of Applied Polymer Science, Material Science and Engeneering A, Journal of Polymer Research, Polymer, Reactive and Functional Polymers, Chemical Engineering & Technology, International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, Polymer International.
Author of about 30 papers on international journals and 15 presentations at international conferences, the research activity of Ing. Corcione deals with the following scientific topics:

  1. Development and characterization of innovative materials for stereolithography.
  2. Characterization and kinetic-rheological modeling of polymer actived by thermal and UV sources .
  3. Development and characterization of photopolymerizable coatings for stone elements.
  4. Development and characterization of nanocomposites based on thermoplastic and thermosetting polymer filled with montmorillonite, boehmite, graphene and silica nano-particles for specific applications: polyurethane and PET based nanocomposites for food packaging with reduced permeability to vapor and oxygen, epoxy and vinyl ester nanocomposites with high flame resistance and  transparency , siloxane modified acrylic based photopolymerizable nanocomposites as protective coatings for wood and stone elements.
